Gnomesville: A Quirky Wonderland Waiting to Be Explored

Hidden in plain sight, Gnomesville is a community of thousands of Gnomes who occupy a piece of the roadside in the Ferguson Valley and is one of Western Australia’s quirkiest attractions.

THE ORIGINS OF GNOMESVILLE

Legend says the mysterious wonderland’s first ever gnome resided in a hollowed redgum tree in the 1990’s when the neighbouring roundabout was constructed. More gnomes joined in the fun and Gnomesville began. Gnomesville has since grown into what it is today and is still growing with more gnomes moving in regularly despite having lost many of its members due to a flood in 2018. After this devastation, a human community helped restore Gnomesville and added some new features for us to enjoy the place even more. The gnomes are happy too as they are well looked after by this community.

LOCATION OF GNOMESVILLE

About 2 hours south of Perth or just over 30 minutes east of Bunbury, you’ll find a roundabout. This round about holds the village of the gnomes. Nestled between Wellington-Mill Rd and Ferguson-Lowden Rd. There is a car park a few metres up from the roundabout where you can park, with toilets and picnic tables available. You can simply put Gnomesville into your maps and it will direct you straight there.

GNOMESVILLE GUEST INFORMATION

Gnomesville is free to visit, any time of the year. You can take a stroll and just view in wonder at the gnomes or you can add to the community by leaving one of your own! You can either bring one you’ve purchased elsewhere, or you can go buy one from the nearby Ferguson Valley Visitor Centre*. Allow your gnome to be wild and run free as is, or write your name and/or year on the back so you know which is your gnome when you visit again, or alternatively so your gnome knows it’s origins.

I spent about 20 minutes looking around and could have easily spent longer. There are so many gnomes to marvel at.

Please remember the area is still part of the community and as such should be treated with respect. Please leave the place as you left it, or better than when you arrived, be careful where you tread and please park in the designated car park.

Such a unique destination and a must visit if you’re in the area, even if you’re not, it’s still worth the drive there! There is nothing quite like it anywhere else!
